We want your experience with us to be a fun and hassle free experience, however for everyone's benefit there are some terms and conditions that apply. Motorcycle rentals is a trading style of Motorcycle Rentals Ltd (MCR).
Motorcycle Rentals Ltd ( MCR) is fully authorised by the NZ Transport Agency to provide fit and proper vehicles for hire and reward, TSL 0245734. Motorcycle Rentals Ltd and the hirer agree to be bound by New Zealand law.
MINIMUM AGE
Minimum age for hire is 25
DRIVER QUALIFICATION
All drivers must have a full Motorcycle Driving Licence (held for at least 2 years), which can be a NZ, International, or Driving Licence from your home country
BOND
Prior to the vehicle been released to the hirer, a bond of $2,500 NZD must be paid, either by cash deposit, or an imprint from a valid credit card in the name of the hirer.
This bond covers your insurance excess in the event of accident or damage. Also it will cover any fuel refill required at the end of your hire, and any minor loss or damage to the vehicle during the period of hire. This can be reduced to $1,000.00 for an additional payment of $25.00 NZD per day of hire (min 7 days). The bond will be fully returned to you upon return of the undamaged motorcycle.
DEPOSIT
At the time of booking a 20% deposit is required of the total hire cost for the period chosen). This is the only way we can ensure that the vehicle of your choice is available , for your required period of hire, as many overseas visitors make arrangements for their holiday in New Zealand, many months in advance. The balance is due at the commencement of hire.
CANCELATION POLICY
If a cancellation is made more than 28 days from the first day of hire then a full refund of your deposit will apply. If between 14 and 28 days then 50% will be refunded. If less than 14 days then no portion of the deposit will be refunded.
PERIOD OF HIRE
The minimum period of hire is THREE DAYS. A day is 24 hours. Longer periods of hire are multiples of one day ( see price list for charges). The period of hire will commence from when you take the vehicle away. If the vehicle is returned more than an hour late without proper notification then 50% of the daily rate will be added for periods of up to 6 hours, and the full daily rate thereafter.
INSURANCE
Full comprehensive vehicle insurance is included in the cost of hire. The insurance excess is $2,500.00 NZD , which will be covered by your Bond. Also each hirer is covered by an additional third party liability insurance of $1 Million NZD , should damage be caused to any other property or persons by the hirer ,as a result of using the vehicle.
FUEL
The cost of hire does not include fuel. All vehicles are released with a full tank of fuel, You are expected to return the vehicle in the same condition, i.e. also with a full tank of fuel. Should this not be the case then the appropriate costs will deducted from your Bond. The correct fuel for all vehicles unless otherwise advised is 91 unleaded.
BREAKDOWN COVER
Comprehensive breakdown cover is with the AA is included in the cost of hire. Additional charges will apply if the call out is as result of an "own fault incident" such as loss of keys or wrong fuel. In the event of a major breakdown an alternative vehicle will be supplied if possible, otherwise a full refund will be given for the unused period of hire.
RESPONSIBILITY OF THE HIRER
All our vehicles are maintained , and kept in top condition. You are expected to treat the vehicle with care, as if it were your own. Riding on unsealed roads ( Gravel roads) is not permitted. Please keep to properly surfaced sealed roads. The exception to this is specified motorcycles such as the BMW GS650 Dakar and Triumph Tiger 800XC. The hirer will be liable for any damage caused by driving on unsealed roads. You are expected to comply with all the rules of the road , and New Zealand laws, whilst driving in New Zealand. Like the UK and Japan you will drive on the left hand side of the road. The hirer is responsible for all traffic fines and infringements. MCR will not be responsible or liable for any accidents and /or bodily injury or death as a result of the use of a motorcycle, and all riders and passengers indemnify all such claims against the company and its employees. MCR is not responsible for any delays or loss due to Acts of God or any circumstances outside of our control. Should a particular motorcycle be unavailable for any reason we will offer you an equivalent or upgraded motorcycle at no extra cost. All hirers will have the benefit of a detailed handover including a short supervised ride of the motorcycle. For your safety, if MCR feels that the chosen motorcycle is not suitable for you, then you will be offered an alternative if available.

Booking Terms and Conditions for Harley Davidson Bikes
Please take the time to read the following important information relating to touring or renting motorcycles from Bularangi Limited – hereinafter referred to as Bularangi.
Deposits and Payments
The payment of a deposit of any part or full payment for a reservation on this tour/rental shall constitute consent to all the provisions herein. A 35% deposit is due when the booking is confirmed in writing either by e-mail, completion and return of a tour booking form or other means.
Any existing medical conditions should be clearly declared on the booking form
The balance of monies owing to Bularangi is required 60 days before tour/rental commences.
A 3% surcharge will be added to all credit card payments.
INSURANCE
All Bularangi tours/rentals are covered by full comprehensive motorcycle insurance. This is included in the daily hire charge/tour price.
A standard excess payment of NZ$3,000.00 applies in the event of any damage to either the Harley Tours motorcycle or third party property. For rentals of greater than 7 days we are able to offer a reduction on the excess down to NZ$500.00 for an extra payment of NZ$40 per day per bike.
Bularangi recommends all clients have personal travel insurance.
BOND
A bond of NZ$3,000.00 is required on collection of your motorcycle and is payable in cash, MasterCard, or Visa. For rentals of greater than 7 days we are able to offer a reduction on the bond down to NZ$500.00 for an extra payment of NZ$40 per day per bike.
The bond is fully refundable if the conditions of the motorcycle return have been satisfied; the motorcycle is returned to the agreed location, on the agreed date; the motorcycle is returned in a reasonably clean and tidy condition and the motorcycle has not been damaged or involved in an accident. If any of the above have not been complied with, the bond is kept and a refund given to the client after any costs associated with the bike and its condition after the rental, have been rectified to the satisfaction of Bularangi .
CANCELLATION POLICY
Requests for cancellation must be received in writing and our cancellation fees are:
Greater than 60 days before proposed tour/rental start date – no charge apart from credit card fees that Bularangi may have incurred in processing credit card payments.
Between 60 and 30 days before proposed tour/rental start date – 35% of total booking amount
Less than 30 days before proposed tour/rental start date – total value of tour forfeited.
Bularangi reserves the right to cancel any tour/rental prior to departure, in which payment will be refunded in full without further obligation on the part of Bularangi .
Change to Planned Activity/Route
Bularangi and its guides/instructors/contractors retain the right to curtail or change a tour or rental for groups or individuals at any time if Bularangi considers safety is compromised.
EARLY RETURNS
There will be no refunds for early returns of motorcycle/s.
LATE RETURN FEE
Failure to return the motorcycle at the agreed time will result in a late fee equivalent to the daily rental rate per day plus additional charges of $150 per day.
MECHANICAL REPAIRS
Puncture and tyre damage are the responsibility of the Hirer.
The undersigned will be liable for any cost associated with the incorrect use of fuel or contamination of the fuel tank.
All repairs must be authorised by Bularangi management before any repair work is undertaken.
MECHANICAL FAILURE
In the event of mechanical failure Bularangi will endeavor to repair or replace the motorcycle within 24 hours of initial notification, this may not always be possible and will be at the discretion of Bularangi . Provision is subject to availability, client location, accident liability and remaining hire duration.
WAIVER AND RELEASE
The undersigned understands the requirements and conditions and is aware that the tour / rental and its activities involve the risk of personal injury and damage or loss of property. In consideration of the benefits to be derived from participation in the tour / rental, the undersigned voluntarily accepts all risks of personal injury and property damage arising from participation on the tour / rental.
The undersigned hereby agrees that they and their dependents, heirs, executors and assigns, do release and hold harmless Bularangi and the employees, directors, and representatives of Bularangi from any and all claims of illness, bodily injury, death or property damage or loss, however caused, arising from or related to this tour/rental.
This exclusion is subject to any rights or remedies you may have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
