Introduction
Suzuki complete the 'big four' Japanese motorcycle manufacturers, and have been responsible for some of the most innovative and exciting motorcycles from the 1960's onwards. Suzuki has a long history dating back to 1887 when Micho Suzuki started to produce pedal driven wooden looms for the silk industry. In 1920 the Suzuki Loom Manufacturing Company was formed as this is regarded as the start of the Suzuki Motor Company. In 1938 they produced their first car, based on the Austin 7, and from 1951 designed innovative 2 stroke engines that could be attached to a bicycle. from 1954 they produced full motorcycles known as Colleda models, and from the early 1960's motorcycles appeared with the full Suzuki branding. They became well known amongst motorcyclists during the 1970's for producing a range of stylish, high performance 2 stroke motorcycles, many of which have become very collectable today. From the late 1970's they produced reliable, good performing stylish 4 stroke motorcycles which they have followed ever since.
